My name is Sue Chopping. I started practicing yoga ten years ago after a back injury. My background is in dance and I have been inspired by the unique blend of ‘Shadow Yoga’ which incorporates Hatha, Tai Chi and Dance. I also study Vinyasa Flow, and Iyengar.
I teach with the emphasis on adapting yoga to the individual, with a non-competitive approach. I incorporate the alignment of Iyengar, and follow the tradition of Krishnamacharya-Desikachar, opening the body slowly to a final posture. The movements follow the breath, connecting to the soul and true essence.
Body alignment is the grounding of all postures and this is the focus of my approach. Nurturing this growth to create stability, then harmony and balance will flourish. Strength and flexibility can develop in the body and mind. Then you will reveal your true potential to transform your life with a lightness of being. Have fun!
I also draw from the reservoir of wisdom and knowledge that has been so kindly and generously shared with me in dance and studying for a B.A in Psychology and an MSc in Neuroscience, leading to publication in The Journal of Consciousness.
I teach to a wide range of abilities from beginners to advanced. I teach my local community, privately, clients with back problems, stressed city workers, couples, and the chronically ill. I have led retreats in Dorset, Morocco, and Egypt.
